Early pewter plate, 9 1/4" dia, scratched initials on rim "CB", labeled on reverse "Caleb Bates", "acquired from Olive Loring...who acquired it from Randall Lincoln, whose father W.O. Lincoln purchased items from the Anchor Tavern South St. Hingham" (JPR); an 8" dia bowl "also from the Anchor Tavern" (JPR); and two very early spoons: a brass stump end spoon, hallmarked inside the bowl with a thistle, "Dug up in a crevice in Ledge to rear of Chubbucks house cellar hole Popes Lane Hingham" (JPR), 4 3/4" l; a 1680-1710 pewter trifid spoon "found in a wall of a 17th c. Kitchen of the Nye Tavern, North St. Hingham, Mass." (JPR), 7 1/2" l.

Cornish...in 1913" (JPR); a glass bottom pewter mug, "from the Old Garrison House on North St. ex. Mason A. Foley" (JPR), 3 3/4" h; and a pewter porringer, marked "IC" on back of reattached handle, "found on the East side of the Allen Gay House South St. Hingham, Mass." (JPR), 4 1/4" dia.

EARLY SHOE SHINE BOX, CHILD'S SHOES

Cast iron shoe support attached to pine box, with hinged drop down front holding two brushes, "acquired from Anthony Nese who owned the Lincoln bldg...he employed a boy to shine shoes for people...coming and going to the train...Eddy Long, an antique dealer located in the East side of the RR station often had the boy shine his shoes" (JPR); and a pair of child's button shoes, (showing great wear), "found in the attic of the Nye Tavern" (JPR), and a cloth child's boot "found above the ceiling in Alphonso Cain's shoe shop" (JPR).

Collection of cobbler's iron shoe lasts with iron stands, and a pine primitive cobbler's stand, with iron last and three leather sole punches, 16 pieces, "found in Mrs. Ruggles barn, and part of Alphonso Cain's shoe making tools" (JPR).

SHOEMAKER'S TOOLS AND TOOL BOXES

Collection of shoemaker's tools and tool boxes, wooden shoe lasts, wood pegs, tacks, hammers, etc., including a handled two-sectioned stacked carrier lined with Hingham Journal Newspaper of 1904, "Alphonso Cain's Shoemaker's tool box..." (JPR), and a small two-sectioned pine box in original red with rosehead nails, stamped "D. Bartlett" (Daniel Bartlett, 1801-1871) on bottom, 12" l; One of the shoe lasts is initialed and tagged "DC", "most likely...Daniel Cain (1783-1835) Grandfather of Alphonso Cain...Daniel was a shoemaker...also..." (JPR).
