HOSEA SPRAGUE WOODCUT PRINT

Very rare Hosea Sprague (1779-1843) woodcut/block print, printed on both sides in a frame under glass, one side titled "Hingham, March 25th, 1840", on the upper left is Dr. Daniel Shute's house on Main St. & So. Pleasant, the upper center is a night scene with a farmer and his wagon, the upper right is The Old Folsom House which was taken down in the 1860's and became the site of the central fire station, (cartouches on the top half show bark), the bottom half shows oxen with a farmer in his field; the other side has a street with buildings which include the Meeting House of the Third Parish, Willard Academy, Derby Academy and the Old Ship’s Church, with engravings "Hosea Sprague's view of the academy and part of the tour of Hingham, including the meeting-house of the third parish on the west.", and "Engraved on wood and published and sold by Hosea Sprague, - Price 25 Cents. December 25, 1838"; few pin holes, fold lines, 13 3/4" x 17 1/2" (sight).

Hingham, (Note: JPR describes this as Tramp Art, we disagree as it is walnut and very finely detailed, also it is signed on the bottom, so John missed one (one out of thousands).
