CARPENTERS SQUARE Maple, original yellow wash, hand stamped numbers to 36" and to 24", lap and peg construction, stamp dated "1854" on bottom of yard rule, (ex. Bud Thompson collection; ex. Hazel Hamilton; private collection). 

CHILD'S ROCKING CHAIR Maple, original dark walnut stain, appears to be original brown and beige taped seat, curvilinear arms ending in mushroom caps, stamped "1" on back of top slat, transfer decal inside rocker, labeled "...Bought from Sister Jennie Wells at West Pittsfield, Mass, 1947.", Mt. Lebanon, NY, c. 1880, excellent condition and patina, 12" seat h, 29" overall h.   

WORK BASKET Black ash, long rectangular form, side handles, single wrapped rim, open weave bottom, Canterbury, NH, c. 1850, 10" h, 29 1/2" l, (ex. Ed and Celeste Koster collection; ex. Hazel Hamilton; private collection). 

STEPS Pine, traces of ochre painted finish, three steps over arched sides, diagonal side bracing, through mortised and pegged stabilizing rectangular bar in back, New Lebanon, NY, c. 1840, rare form, 30" h, 19" w, 21" d. 

CARRIER Pine, original cherry red painted finish, tall swing hoop handle, canted sides, taller arched ends, nailed construction, c. 1880, 17" h, 17" l, 7 1/2" d. 

TWO SWIFTS Maple and pine, original yellow stained finish, Hancock, MA, 24" and 21" h.   

ROCKING CHAIR Maple, original ebony finish, shawl bar, four slats, mauve and red striped tape seat, curvilinear arms with mushroom caps, 14 3/4" seat h, 40" overall h. 

THREE OVAL BOXES Maple and pine, original black paint with traces of stenciled vine and flower motif, three fingers, 4 5/8" l; Maple and pine, original varnish finish, three fingers, 5 1/8" l; Maple and pine, original lipstick red painted finish, three fingers, initialed and dated in pencil inside lid and on bottom "LHD, 1875", 5 7/8" l; all in good to excellent condition.   

BLANKET CHEST Poplar, original blue painted finish, lift lid opening to deep well, over two graduated, dovetailed, full-length drawers, original turned and threaded hardwood capped mushroom pulls, half round footed base, c. 1840, 42" h, 41 1/2" w, 17 1/2" d.   

DANCE PRINT "Shakers near Lebanon", hand-colored print of Shaker Brothers and Sisters dancing at meeting with worldly woman in yellow hat holding from on the left, top hat and cane on bench on right, laid down on cardboard backing, matted, 13" x 17 3/4". 

LARGE OVAL BOX Pine and maple, original dark walnut stained finish, five fingers, copper tacks, stamped "1" inside lid, 6" h, 14 3/4" l. 

LARGE BOWL Tiger maple, iron banded flared rim, natural patina finish, early insert repairs to splits, c. 1840, 9" h, 28" dia, (see page 24 Shaker, Furniture and Objects..., Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian Exhibition, similar bowl pictured was the first purchase of Faith and Edward Andrews from the Hancock Shakers...the beginning of their collections). 

FOUR GLASS DINNER PLATES Pattern glass, diamonds and fans, 9" dia, used at Hancock Shaker Village, note: "...Given to Lillian B. Davies by Sister Frances Hall, head Trustee of the colony,...explained that these plates were used for guests. The ridge on the plate was for the purpose of keeping the food on the plate and not soiling the tablecloth...1948", (Ed Clerk collection).   

CORNER SHELF Pine, original dry red stained finish, raised top with curved sides, five quartered round shelves, rare form, c. 1840, 69" h, 16 1/2" d to the corner.
