Why Consign?

Independently selling your antiques can be a risky and time-consuming process. Without extensive knowledge of current prices and market trends, obtaining a fair price for your collection, estate, or even a single piece may prove difficult.  In addition, it may take months to line up even a handful of potential buyers.  Consigning with Willis Henry Auctions eliminates these obstacles. Using our extensive experience and knowledge of the antiques market we will help you decide just how much your family heirlooms and treasured collection pieces are worth and clearly explain all of your options as a seller.
We will also expedite the selling process by assembling a variety of interested buyers. Our proprietary mailing list of over 20,000 names - including many buyers unwilling to participate in private sales - gives us the ability to quickly build interest in your item or items. In addition, we are able to improve their selling price through advertisements. We advertise most pieces in both "The Boston Globe" and "The New Town Bee- Antiques and the Arts Weekly, Maine antiques Digest" and we typically place photographs of major consignments in the latter.  While such promotions are typically expensive and impractical for the private seller, they are one of the many ways our size and expertise can create value for our consignors.

~ Consignment Terms ~

·    Payment: All payments received by the company for consignments less the relevant commissions will be remitted to the consignor 30 days after the end of any sale containing consigned items.
·    Buyer's Premium:
Every lot sold through Willis Henry Auctions is subject to a 15%-17% Buyer's premium (depending on the type of auction), which must be paid by the buyer.
·    Shipping: All shipping costs associated with sending a consignment to Willis Henry Auctions must be paid by the consignor. All shipping costs associated with sending a purchased item to a buyer must be paid by the buyer.
·    Pick-Up/Delivery:  If you are located within reasonable traveling distance of the Company's headquarters in Pembroke, Massachusetts we will pick up your consignments free of charge. All deliveries of purchased items to buyers are charged to the buyer on a case by case basis.
·    Reserves: A reserve is the minimum selling price that a consignor will accept for an item and is privately agreed upon by the auctioneer and the consignor. All reserves are set at or below fair auction value and at no time will Willis Henry Auctions accept a reserve that exceeds what our extensive experience tells us is fair value for a particular lot. In addition, all items consigned to auction under the condition of a reserve are subject to a  buy-in fee. This fee is assessed in the event that a lot fails to meet its reserve and remains unsold.
·    Unsold Lots: Any lot that remains unsold after being cataloged into two separate auctions will be returned to the consignor or disposed of at the auctioneer's discretion.
·    Estimates: Verbal estimates made at the time of consignment may significantly differ from actual auction results. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy of these estimates and hold no liability for auction results that are significantly below our estimates. Please be aware that even slight imperfections or irregularities in a consignment may cause its actual auction price to fall appreciably below the price of either our estimate or the price of similar pieces.
·    Photographs and Advertising: We reserve the right to charge an additional fee or commission for unusually complicated or extensive photographing or advertising of a consignment. However, standard photography and advertising is provided free of charge.
·   Insurance: All antiques consigned to Willis Henry Auctions are covered by the company's comprehensive insurance policy. Additional coverage can be arranged at a competitive rate on a case by case basis if necessary.
·   Commission: Will be discussed upon inspection of the merchandise.
