Toma, Liberia, horned mask with a flattened facial plane, elaborately detailed forehead, small animalistic pointed ears, small closely set eyes, small open mouth, old worn surface, this mask is a partner to the larger landa masks, and functioned in conjunction with the Poro society which regulated land use and regulations on initiation, marriage, and social behavior, 13" h.

Mumuye, Nigeria, fetish figure, related to fetish objects coming from Northern Cameroon, and from the Mambila, Keaka, and Namji cultures, solid wood with attached beads and feathers, the head has four sets of eyes, and served as a guardian object able to "see" in all directions and used for protection of a clan, sits on a round base, 19" h.

Yoruba helmet mask, Gelede night mask, rare representation of a very powerful form, very old pre-1950 mask, elongated ears with white kaolin continuing onto face with carved features, crescent moon tattoos on cheeks outlined in ricketts blue, (also under eyes and chin), black breast plate and black headrest carved as a gourd full of magic medicine with poured on libations, some termite damage to side of face adds to the mysterious and powerful presence of this singular mask, 29" h.

Djenne, Mali, maternity figure, terracotta kneeling mother figure with child, missing parts, serpent around the neck, circular pattern on cap and dress, white over red finish, fragmented terracotta figures have emerged from long abandoned villages throughout the inland Niger Delta, dating of such figures places them up to the 16th c., terracotta figures have been found in a number of regional styles, 8" h.

Silver plated, finely detailed, table top castor, gothic shaped container with decorated round carrying finial, half round rotating doors opening to niches with containers for six bottles, each container door repousse decorated with sporting game motifs, contains two original decorated bottles, label on top section reads "Patented December 11, 1857", original patented by Edward Gleason of Dorchester, Mass. in 1856, applied silver stamp of the Massachusetts seal is on the bottom, possibly used in the Banks' mansion when N.P.
